Behavior Think Sheet

If you read my Beginning of the Year Information, you would find the documents I sent out to my first graders' parents this year.  

Within this document it talks about my class' behavior plan and how I incorporate ClassDojo, which my first graders love!  I talk about giving my students 3 strikes when they break a class rule.  

1st strike is just a verbal warning and a negative point on ClassDojo.

2nd strike is to take time during their afternoon recess to reflect on their behavior with the Behavior Think Sheet.  Rather than have my students lose recess by just sitting out, they need to reflect on what they did on the Behavior Think Sheet.  Once they finish the sheet and we've discussed the behavior, then they're free to play again, if there's time left.  This Sheet goes home with the student with the expectation that parents discuss it with him/her, sign it, and return the Sheet the next day.

Beginning of the Year Information

Hello there!

I just wanted to share with you the information I send out to parents the first week of school.  In this pdf file, you will see:

-Introduction to me 
-Class information
-New school year questionnaire 

When I send several papers home at a time, I make sure they are in different colors.  One, so it's colorful.  Two, so parents can see the different & separate information.  Three, in case the student does not return a certain paper, I can identify the needed document by color.  Some of these pages (2 & 3 and 5 & 6) I print front & back to save paper, and because they just go together.

Any kind of resource (worksheets, slides, smartboard files, etc.) you want...it's most likely there and beautifully made for you by fellow educators.  You can search by grade level, subjects, price...theme, anything.  

Don't want to pay?  No big deal.  There are tens and thousands of already made work that teachers are willing to share for FREE!  Yup!  If you sign-up, they will send an email once a week (usually Sundays, for me) with their top downloads, recommended downloads, AND 10 free downloads that you would usually have to pay for.  It's truly a great resource to buy, sell, and share teaching resources!  

You MUST check it out!  Besides Pinterest...TeachersPayTeachers is the other go-to website for instant reproducibles!

Ms. Lulu's Daily Schedule

I love a classroom routine with a help of a Daily Schedule.  
Afterall, it's a must in any class!  
Once you have a consistent routine down and the students become familiar with it, then the class can practically run itself!  
The basics are the time blocks and the different activities.  You can change the activities around only AFTER the students know the expectations and routines of the class!  
I change up my daily schedule around throughout the school year!

Great Calendar/Math Worksheets!

How awesome are these worksheets?!  They are beautiful and wonderful printables for students to fill out the charts with the teacher...right?  To save paper, I would print and laminate each worksheet, so students get a set.  Students can then write with dry erase marker and erase as needed.  

Keep the students engaged with these worksheets!

The Mailbox

I'm always looking for fun activities to do with my students and The Mailbox is a wonderful resource I look into.  You can register to the website for FREE or subscribe to their beautifully colored magazines from Preschool through Grade 6.  The magazines come 6 times a year (every 2 months) and they're usually seasonal &/or theme based.  But nevertheless, filled with engaging ideas to implement into your classroom.  They even have free sample resources you can download and save onto your computer, just by clicking on each book that you see on their site.  They truly have a plethora of resources from books to ipad apps (which is new!) to supplies, games, and to even interactive whiteboard activities!  Happy exploring!

Daily Class Schedule Template

A snapshot; there is a clipart in the document.

This is the template I use in my early childhood classrooms.  All my students' families get a copy at the beginning of the year, so they know what to expect in my classroom.  This Daily Class Schedule is changed throughout the school year to fit my students' needs as they grow.  Feel free to change anything in the template.  :)
