Letter Recognition

Teaching letters is fun in early childhood.  Here is a fun activity to play with your students.

  1. Place large targeted letters of the day/week in the middle of your class circle.
  2. Sing the song below.
  3. Pick a child to find the letter.
  4. When he does, press a rubber stamp into an ink pad and then stamp his hand.
  5. Continue in the same way with each remaining youngster.

(sung to the tune of “The Muffin Man”)
When you find the letter [T],
The letter [T], the letter [T].
When you find the letter [T],
I will stamp your hand.

You can definitely modify this activity and song with math concepts, too!
Mailbox is such a great resource!
